North Carolina State University REU Program Based in Raleigh, NC, NCSU has research positions available in condensed matter and materials physics, atomic and nuclear physics, optics and astrophysics.
NIST/SURF Program Based near Washington DC, the National Institute of Standards and Technology is one of our nations larger research labs, with active research programs in a variety of areas. We get together an application package for this program every year. Let Tonya Coffey or Tony Calamai know if you are interested in applying for this program.
There are several extensive databases on summer research experiences. One nice database is maintained by the University of Pennsylvania Physics Department and has the programs organized in two ways, by research area and by state. This page also has links to other databases.
Oak Ridge National Labs is based in Oak Ridge, TN. This is one of our country's premier research labs, and has research programs in many areas of physics and science.
Montana State University offers summer research experiences in materials science and Solar Physics/Astronomy & Space Physics.
