I am an applied physics master's candidate
at Appalachian State University with a
concentration in astronomical instrumentation
and observations. Currently, I am engaged in
the search for extrasolar planets encircling
binary stars using the photometric transit
method. This research is being conducted at
Appalachian State and Appalachian's 32-inch Dark Sky
Observatory located 20 miles northeast of Boone
just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. |

It were as well to be educated in the shadow of a mountain as in more classical shades. Some will remember, no doubt, not only that they went to the college, but that they went to the mountain. Every visit to its summit would, as it were, generalize the particular information gained below, and subject it to more catholic tests.
